Ruth and the Green Book by Calvin Alexander Ramsey is an easy book about the problems with travel that were experienced by blacks before the Civil Rights Movement changed our country. The Green Book was a guide that allowed people to find hotels, gas stations, and other accomodations when they were away from home. It is a short and easy read that brings to life a period of our history as well as a chance to discuss with your family the way we treat all people in the world.
